Goodbye Oak! Hello modern fireplace with this recent renovation
Daughters First Fine Furniture
I have finally had a chance to venture into the fine furniture side of the game. I was looking to build my eldest daughter something for her room and was inspired by a blanket chest that Jon Peters has up on his website. I took this inspiration and made some minor tweaks to the design to make it fit with my daughters room and the result is what you see below.
I've learned a lot from this build, from the basic frame of plywood, to the assembly of all the aspen molding which really makes this box shine. Fine furniture takes time and precision to ensure a great looking product and while this box here is not perfect, I feel it's a pretty darn good start and I look forward to building this box again for the next two daughters. I'll just make sure they know that each one was made with love while we will all know the next two will be even better.

Furniture for Me
As a Woodworker / Maker it's not very often I get a chance to make furniture or "Wood Objects" for myself. Today I am quite pleased with this latest project which was a collaboration with another maker and someone I use often for my metal work. Mike at Forge 53 or Forge_53 on Instagram is someone you need to check out for any of your metal work.
Without further adieu, check out this latest creation along with my first product video.
Oak Paradise No More
When we moved into our new place, we knew there was going to be a lot of work to get rid of the "Oak Paradise" as we like to call it. My wife's studio where she does Eyelash Extensions was in serious need of a make over and so I partnered with Collin over at Windsor Plywood and AS IS Brand Wood Walls to help out with the renovation.
We only have one before picture and it's not that great but have a fantastic after picture and the "customer" could not be more happy. Utilizing the AS IS Brand Wood Walls product was a huge time saver for me. I've thought about doing wood walls in the past however the milling of reclaimed material as well as staining it different shades is what's kept me away. Not because I can't do it, it's a lot of time and this product cuts down on the time to execute.
Utilizing G-Tape double-sided tape and some 2" brad nails this wall went up in no time which allowed me to get the rest of the room completed within the weekend. Overall the whole renovation was a pleasure and really has me pumped to take on the rest of the house. Baby steps though.
As you can see I've made a change to the website. I found the other platform to be way to slow and in turn that made your experience on my site less than ideal. I believe the move to Squarespace will provide a much better experience when browsing my gallery or being able to purchase items directly from the site.
While the site still has a few more tweaks to go for consistency and a few other items, I felt it best to move now as the other site was just way to slow.
If you have feedback, let me know!
